Computer FAQs and Online Computer Store is meant to help current and future students with technology requirements and recommendations for their educational experience at Lancaster General College.

Blackboard is the College's online course management system, available to all current students, faculty, and staff of the College. Course materials, discussion boards, and online communities are available in Blackboard.

See Clinical Applications (LG) for systems such as Bridge, SMS, Novius, Sovera, and the like. These will only work if you are on an LG computer connected to the LG Intranet or connected via the Virtual Private Network (VPN) Remote Access described below.

Email via Outlook Web Access gives all current students, faculty, and staff of the College access to their email accounts.

The L Drive (LGC) is the home for all group-shared documents and folders within the College. It is ONLY AVAILABLE to people who have appropriate access privileges, who are currently working on an LG computer connected to the LG Intranet.

The Library has a collection of online services, including subscriptions to many important databases.

Netlearning includes an extensive set of mandatory and optional online educational modules, as well as scheduling for many live courses offered to people in the LG system.

Sonis is our Student Online Information System, where students check their bills, view their ledger, see their schedules, register for classes, and more.

VPN Remote Access allows people at home to gain access to the LG Intranet, which requires a username and password for access.

INFORMATION SYSTEMS
The College's Information Systems team is an integral part of Student Services, providing access to and facilitating the usage of all the College's technologies. Current students, faculty, and staff can visit the College IS and Student Services communities in Blackboard for internally-oriented IS materials, including contact information, phone numbers, tutorials, and the like.
The College is dedicated to using new technology throughout the curriculum; computers are used extensively in class and clinical assignments. Using Windows-based workstations, all faculty and staff have connections to the College network, the Lancaster General network and the Internet. Internet access is also available to students via wireless access throughout the College for use through their personal electronic equipment. The College's standard integrated software suite is Microsoft Office, which includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Other College applications include the Sonis Student Online Information System, and the Blackboard Course Content Management System. The College has a large Computing Center available for student and faculty use, and is connected to the Internet via high-speed fiber, with all computers capable of sending and receiving electronic mail. All students and faculty can access email and online resources at home through the Internet. The College has an extensive library of audio, video and computer-based instructional aides that are available for students and faculty.
The College provides a state-of-the-art Computing Center for students to use in their academic work. The Computing Center consists of three Computer Labs: two 24-workstation labs and an 8-workstation lab. Open 5:30AM-11:00PM Monday through Friday and 6:00AM-5:00PM Saturday and Sunday. The Computing Center is fully networked with access to the Internet, the LG Intranet, and LGH clinical software and patient information systems. Additionally, the Computing Center offers an extensive library of computer-assisted instructional software, and all computers include Microsoft Office 2007, the premier suite of software for email, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and database development. Finally, specialized machines are available with high-end graphics software and scanning capabilities in the Learning Resourcses Suite. In short, the Computing Center is designed to give students the complete range of hardware and software necessary to facilitate the completion of all classroom and clinical assignments.
