"A Kalidescope of Perinatal Care"

Topics:
  • Improving Quality of Outcomes:  Reducing Preterm Birth
    Engaging women to improve behaviors to reduce preterm birth
  • Transcultural Panel Discussion
    Do you want to know more about the perinatal practices of different cultures? This presentation will give you the opportunity to learn more about the cultural practices of Hispanic, African, Amish, and Asian cultures during pregnancy, delivery, and post partum periods.
  • Transculturally Sensitive Nursing Care
    Examine specific aspects of the African, Asian, Hispanic, and Amish cultures in order to provide culturally competent care
  • Alternative Pain Management in Labor & Delivery
    Learn about complementary and alternative methods to help reduce or manage pain during labor and delivery.
  • Neonatal Congenital Anomalies
    This workshop will outline a general approach to, and review of common congenital anomalies identified in the newborn period, and identify those that may warrant further evaluation.
  • Morbid Obesity in Pregnancy
    Participate in discussing the metabolic consequences of morbid obesity, the complications of pregnancy related to morbid obesity, the various weight loss procedures for morbid obesity, and the effects of bariatric surgery on conception and pregnancy.
  • Post Op Pain Management
    A brief review of the physiology of pain will be followed by a discussion of current practice and new developments in post-op pain management.
  • Domestic Violence
    IPV (Intimate Partner Violence) is found in all ages, races, religions, socioeconomic, educational and occupational groups. An in-depth discussion of the role of the Healthcare Provider and screening for IPV will be discussed.
