Please read this page in its entirety as it outlines all PALS Initial Provider pre-class requirements. The class is two days and will begin at 0800 each day, lasting approximately eight hours. There is required work to complete prior to arrival.
 
This program teaches the knowledge and skills required to be both a team member and a team leader in either an in-hospital or out-of-hospital setting. This class does NOT teach CPR, ECG rhythm identification, PALS pharmacology, or algorithms.
 
Prerequisites:
  • Current BLS Card
Required Text:
  • PALS Provider Manual.
  • Books may be borrowed from the Health Sciences Library (located in the James Street Lobby).
PALS Pre-work:
  • Access the AHA student website at www.heart.org/eccstudent, and enter the code “palsprovider” to complete the pre-course assessment.  Bring the printed assessment scores with you in order to be admitted to class.  The assessment consists of three sections:  ECG rhythm identification, pharmacology and practical application.
  • Be prepared to pass the child 1-rescuer CPR and infant 1- and 2-rescuer CPR skills tests.
Bring to Class:
  • PALS Provider Manual.
  • Precourse assessment scores
  • Current CPR card
  • Pen or pencil.
What to Wear to Class:
  • Loose, comfortable clothing within the LGH dress code.
