Please read this page in its entirety as it outlines all PALS Renewal pre-class requirements. The class will begin at 0800 and lasts approximately eight hours. There is required work to complete prior to arrival.
 
This course reviews the lifesaving skills required to be both a team member and a team leader in either an in-hospital or out-of-hospital setting. This class does NOT teach CPR, ECG rhythm identification, PALS pharmacology, or algorithms.
 
Prerequisites:
  • Current BLS Card
  • Current PALS Provider Card
Required Text:
  • PALS Provider Manual.
  • PALS Course Guide
  • Student CD.
  • Books may be purchased from www.mbsdirect.net.
  • Books may also be borrowed from the Health Sciences Library (located in the James Street Lobby).
PALS Pre-work:
  • Complete the Precourse Checklist (PDF) and bring the list to class on the first day.
  • Complete the Precourse Self-Assessments (PDF), print your scores, and bring them to the first class.  The assessments consist of three sections: ECG rhythm identification, pharmacology, and practical application.  The assessments begin on pages 9, 15, and 28.
  • Be prepared to pass the child 1-rescuer CPR/AED and infant 1- and 2-rescuer CPR skills tests.
Bring to Class:
  • PALS Course Guide.
  • Pen or pencil.
What to Wear to Class:
  • Loose, comfortable clothing within the LGH dress code.
