New Leader Orientation
The purpose of the New Leader Orientation is to create a consistent approach to orienting new leaders. The New Leader Orientation welcomes Lancaster General employees who are new to a leadership role, as well as novice or experienced leaders who recently joined LG. Successful completion of the 8 modules described below is required to receive a certificate of attendance.

Organizational Overview
This module provides information about how the LG organization is structured and the range of services offered by LG entities. Objectives:

Articulate the vision for LG leadership and the role a leader plays in the system.

Increase knowledge of our organizational structure (service lines, different entities and committee structures).

Learn about our annual goals.
Creating an Extraordinary Experience @ LG
This module will provide participants with an introduction to the Experience Design Model as the basis for transforming Lancaster General’s patient and family experience from a service model to an experience model. Objectives:
This module provides participants with an overview of the LG Human Resource function at LG. Objectives:

Introduce participants to the structure of the Human Resource function at LG.

Provide an overview to the major components of Employee Management.

Participants are provided with information and resources regarding the Employee Management function.
Computer Skills for Managers
* Participants choose either this or "Computer Skills for Clinical Managers" as applicable to leadership role.
This module provides participants with an overview of the essential computer applications needed at the management level. Objectives:

An Introduction to Purchasing and Contracting @ LG
This module provides participants with an introduction to the LG Materials Management functions, how they operate, and their role as a leader in participating in supply chain processes. Objectives:

Introduce participants to tools and processes available for the selection, acquisition and distribution of goods and services required throughout Lancaster General.

Provide participants with resources to enable access to and participation in business support services.

Increase awareness of supply chain strategies, issues and leveraged solutions available to support our service lines.
Financial Education for the LG Leader
This module provides participants with information on the overall fiscal strategies at LG, as well as, the leader’s role in the fiscal performance area. Objectives:

Learn about the annual financial goals of LGH.

Increase knowledge of the monthly financial / budget reports.

Brief overview of the budget process.

Articulate how LGH gets paid for its services.

Familiarize yourself with CDM and charge entry issues.

Learn the importance of registration and coding to the billing process
Communication Skills to Build Effective Teams
This module provides information and skills on the basic communication competencies critical to improving performance and engaging team members. Objectives:

Describe the channels of communication in your team.

Learn how to engage and motivate your team members.
-
Practice the skill of listening and communicating in conscious, healthy ways.
*Attendance at one Colloquium session is required.

This series is comprised of informal meetings for leaders to share knowledge and expertise around building competencies within the management function. Skill builders on the following topics include: handling difficult people, problem solving methods, conflict management, time management and team building.
