Why choose our Medical Laboratory Science program?
Medical laboratory scientists perform laboratory tests on blood, body fluids and tissues.  They play a pivotal role in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of disease. This program is designed to prepare graduates to function in a laboratory environment, accurately use laboratory instruments, work as a group and effectively communicate with others.  If you have an interest in helping others while being a part of a healthcare team, and you find enjoyment in small details, then the Medical Laboratory Science program is for you.

Essential functions for the medical laboratory scientist can be found here.

Will I be successful?

What will I learn?
Through classroom and clinical training, you will experience multiple areas of the lab – blood bank, microbiology, clinical chemistry and hematology.  Because of the extensive training and clinical experience, you will graduate with a wide range of employment opportunities, such as working in a hospital, clinic, research lab or forensic science lab.  Upon completion of the program, you will be eligible to take the national certifying exam and begin your new career as a medical laboratory scientist.
