About General Education
Lancaster General College of Nursing and Health Sciences believes that general education lays the groundwork of any educational program. Students use the foundation skills learned in general education courses to further their intellectual, personal and professional growth.
Mission
The General Education mission is closely aligned with the College's mission: General Education provides essential skills and knowledge that help students succeed in their chosen field, advance successfully in a profession, adapt to the changing workplace, be good citizens in their future communities and become life-long learners.
To fulfill this mission and support the overall College mission, General Education is committed to:
- Enhancing problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Cultivating in the learner the ability to develop a global perspective on issues that humankind faces, and to explore solutions that are morally, socially, culturally, economically, politically and ecologically sound.
- Developing in the learner civic, social and professional commitment.
- Fostering the curiosity, creativity and desire to become autonomous learners in life.
- Maintaining a commitment to institutional integrity, ethical values, academic and intellectual freedom and high standards of practice.
- Providing educational programs that prepare students for transfer to baccalaureate and advanced degree programs.
