The Developing Leader curriculum is geared towards all leaders in the LG system.
 
Our current curriculum, Developing a Framework for Employee Engagement, is a series of 4 courses that defines employee engagement; introduces tools and strategies for developing a culture of engagement within a team, examines the reasons behind the behavior leading to disengagement and practice applying decision making tools.  The courses are described below.  A set of relevant books and articles is also listed below.
 
To register for any of these courses, login to Netlearning, choose "Enroll in Classes", choose the curriculum topic "Developing Leader", then choose "Enroll" next to the class you want to take.
 
COURSE 1
 
Creating a Culture of Engagement
Presenters: Robin Granzow, Brenda Stover, Catherine Stover
Learning Objectives:
  • Define employee engagement and its value.
  • Introduce tools and strategies for developing a culture of engagement within a team.
Course Description: Imagine working in an environment where all employees are fully engaged in what they do, excited about their work, accept personal responsibility for their performance and are committed to the organization.

COURSE 2
 
Communication for Engagement
Presenters: Robin Granzow, Brenda Stover, Catherine Stover
Learning Objectives:
  • Learn how to redeploy your communication skills within the environment of engagement.
  • Rediscover communication tools that can lead to more effective employee engagement.
Course Description: Communication for engagement involves a shift in communication patterns; moving information flow from “telling to asking”. This change in communication style fosters an environment that leads to increased employee innovation and motivation for excellence.

Managing the Disengaged Employee

Learning Objectives:
  • Explore reasons behind the behavior leading to disengagement.
  • Learn and practice techniques through situational role playing.
Course Description: Too often people have to work with others who have become disenchanted and actively disengaged. This session will provide supervisors with resources to handle these situations.

Decision Making for Engagement

Learning Objectives:
  • Increase decision making skills to promote efficient and productive work flow.
  • Practice applying decision making tools.
Course Description: Are you interested in increasing your engagement scores? Learn how you can engage your employees across shifts. Learn how to use a cause and effect diagram and learn how to make better decisions that your staff can support.
