The Developing Leader curriculum is geared towards all leaders in the LG system.
 
The focus of the Developing Leader program is leadership with Integrity. This series of courses provides opportunities for leaders to learn and practice structured management skills which are aligned with, and promote, the LGH culture of ethical wisdom. Each program will focus on the application of learned skills within the context of integrity, trust and commitment.

COURSES
 
Moving from Conflict to Collaboration
This course will provide a model for the effective management of conflict, resulting in increased collaboration, innovation, problem solving, and productivity in the workplace.
 
Objectives:
  • Learn a process for addressing conflict constructively.
  • Develop strategies to harness the energy of conflict to produce positive results.
  • Practice effective methods of intervention and conflict management.

Managing Performance Problems
This course will provide the skills and tools to prepare for performance-related discussions that increase productivity, collaboration, and achievement of critical goals.
 
Objectives:
  • Identify performance situations in which to take action.
  • Learn key action steps for correcting performance problems.
  • Practice the steps to correcting performance problems.

Moral & Ethical Issues in Leadership
This course is designed to introduce participants to the basic theories of ethics as applied to leadership in the healthcare setting.
 
Objectives:
  • Develop an understanding of the basic theories of ethics.
  • Discuss current issues and trends in healthcare in relation to ethics theories.
  • Share ideas and perspectives regarding ethical decision-making using case studies.

Developing Staff for Top Performance
This course will provide skills to build constructive relationships that gain a stronger commitment to improving performance and achieving results that make a difference for the organization.
 
Objectives:
  • Describe the role of a manager in coaching and developing staff members.
  • Discover skills for developing staff, helping them expand their capabilities so they will have the confidence to take on new challenges and work more independently.
  • Demonstrate a set of key actions steps for coaching staff members.
