Caroline E. Althouse, AS – Staff Instructor and Coordinator, Life Support Education
Caroline has been working in the education field since 1993 and currently serves as the Coordinator for Life Support Education in the Division of Corporate Education.  She is an AHA instructor and has been with Lancaster General Health since 1986.

Natalie R. Baker, BSN, RN—Staff Educator, Perioperative Services, Women and Babies Hospital
Born and raised in Lancaster County, Natalie started her career as a certified surgical technologist graduating from Lancaster General College.  She went on to complete her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Thomas Jefferson University.  Natalie has been working in Perioperative Services since 1992 and has been with Lancaster General Health since 2000.  In addition, she works part time as an operating room nurse at Lancaster General Health’s Women and Babies Hospital.  She has been with the Division of Corporate Education since 2009.
 
Kay Brady—Vice President Human Resources and Coordinator, Leadership Academy
Originally from Schuylkill County, Kay graduated from Millersville University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and then Penn State Middletown with a Master of Arts in Public Administration. She is married with two children and has been working in the field Human Resources, in various capacities, since graduating from college.  She has been with Lancaster General Health since 2007 and has been working with the Division of Corporate Education since 2010.
 
Krista Budzik, BSN, RN, OCN—Staff Educator, Medical/Surgical Team, Duke Street
Krista graduated from Lancaster General College with her Diploma in Nursing and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Millersville University.  She became an oncology certified nurse in 2003.  She has worked in a variety of nursing positions focused in oncology at Lancaster General Health since starting in 1993.  She has been a staff educator with the Division of Corporate Education since 2005.
 
Cris Burfete, MSN, RN—Staff Educator, Critical Care Team, Duke Street
Born and raised in Lancaster County, Cris earned her Diploma in Nursing from the Geisinger Medical Center School of Nursing, and then continued her education at Penn State, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing in 2009 from Walden University. Cris has worked in various nursing roles at Lancaster General Health since 1988, including Trauma/Neuro, ICU and Gamma Knife Radio Surgery.  Cris has been with the Division of Corporate Education since 2008.
 
Rhoda H. Denlinger, BSN, RN – Staff Educator, Technology Education, Duke Street
A native of Lancaster County, Rhoda received her RN Degree from The Reading Hospital School of Nursing, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Millersville University, and a certificate in Nursing Informatics from Eastern College.  Her nursing experience includes staff nursing in Medical/Surgical and eight years working as a nursing supervisor. Rhoda has worked for the Division of Corporate Education as a technology educator since 2000.
 
Nicole A. Diem, RN, BSN, CCRN—Staff Educator, Evening/Night Shift, Duke Street
Nicole graduated from Lancaster General College in 2005 with her Associates Degree in Nursing and immediately began working in the ICU at Lancaster General Health.  She joined the Division of Corporate Education in 2011 as an evening/night shift staff educator. Nicole completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Eastern Mennonite University in May 2011 and plans to return for her Master of Science in Nursing after she gets married this year. 
 
Kurt B. Doan, MA—Dean, Division of Corporate Education
Born and raised in Lancaster County, Kurt earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Penn State University and went on to complete a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from The University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ.  He has been working in the field of higher education/college administration since 1994 working primarily for large research universities and elite private colleges.  He has been with the Division of Corporate Education since 2007.
 
Lynne M. Dommel, RN, BSN—Staff Educator, Medical/Surgical Team, Duke Street
Born and raised in Lancaster County, Lynne earned her Associates Degree in Nursing from Lancaster General College and an Associates in Science Degree from Franklin & Marshall College.  She pursued a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Millersville University and is currently completing a master’s degree in nursing education at Walden University. She has been working as a nurse at Lancaster General Health since 1986.  Lynne has worked for the Division of Corporate Education as a staff educator since 2008.
 
Michael A. Fadale, RN, BSN, CEN, PHRN –Staff Educator, Critical Care Team, Duke Street
Born and raised in the Allentown, PA area, Mike earned his Diploma in Nursing from Lancaster General College in 2005 followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Millersville University.  He has been working in the Lancaster General Health’s Emergency Department since 2005.  He has also received the certifications of Pre-Hospital Registered Nurse as well as Certified Emergency Nurse.  Most recently, Mike joined the Division of Corporate Education team in August of 2010 as a staff educator. 
 
Lou Ann Fromuth—Staff Educator, Medical/Surgical Team, Duke Street; PSNA Application Approver
Born and raised in Steelton, PA, Lou Ann earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Albright College and her Masters in Child Health from the University of South Alabama. She is board certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from the Pediatric Nurse Certification Board.  Lou Ann has 30 years experience in Maternal/Child Health working in hospitals throughout the country and has worked as a staff educator with the Division of Corporate Education since 2001. Along with her responsibilities as a staff educator, she has been Lancaster General College’s liaison with the Pennsylvania State Nurse Association and approver of nursing continuing education contact hours.  Lou Ann is also a regional faculty member for the American Heart Association’s Pediatric Advance Life Support curriculum.

Kathy Gainer—Talent and Leadership Development Assistant
Born and raised in Lancaster County, Kathy began working with the Division of Corporate Education since 2007 supporting Leadership Development, Life Support, Paramedic and EMT Programs.  Kathy currently serves the Division of Corporate Education and the Human Resources department of Lancaster General Health, assisting with the Talent and Leadership Development program. 
 
Michele Gosling, RN, BSN, CCRN – Staff Educator, Critical Care Team, Duke Street
Michele received an associate’s degree and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Hahnemann University. As a nurse with over 30 years of experience, Michele’s primary focus has been intensive care nursing primarily in the cardiology arena.  She has been a staff educator with the Division of Corporate Education since 2008.
 
Robin M. Granzow, M.Ed.—Staff Educator, Leadership
Robin holds a Masters in Education with a concentration in training and development from Penn State University. Prior to her role at LGC, Robin provided leadership development programs to families, organizations, schools and corporations within Lancaster and surrounding counties. Additionally, Robin served as a Corporate Trainer in Health & Safety programs for the Susquehanna Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross for over 20 years. Robin has worked with the Division of Corporate Education since 2007.
 
Vanessa R. Heisey RN, BSN—Staff Educator, Critical Care Team, Duke Street
Born and raised in Lancaster County, Vanessa earned her Diploma in Nursing from Lancaster General College, earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Immaculata University, and is currently working on her master’s degree at Alvernia University.  Her nursing background consists of cardiac telemetry nursing, and most recently clinical education and simulation.  She has worked for Lancaster General Health since 2005 and with the Division of Corporate Education since 2008.
 
Lisa D. Hershiser, MSN/MHA, RN—Staff Educator, Medical/Surgical Team, Duke Street
Lisa graduated from Lancaster General College with her Diploma in Nursing and went on to complete her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Eastern Mennonite University.  In addition, she has completed both a Master of Science in Nursing and a Master of Arts in Healthcare Administration from the University of Phoenix.  She has worked for Lancaster General Health since 1994 and joined the Division of Corporate Education in 2011.
 
Shari L.K. Innerst M.S. CCC-SLP—Staff Educator, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Duke Street
Born and raised in York County, Pennsylvania, Shari earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders from Bloomsburg University in 1985 and went on to complete a Masters in Speech Language Pathology in 1986. She has been working in the field as a SLP for 25 years in various acute care, outpatient, rehabilitation centers, post acute and home health settings. Shari has served as a staff educator for PM&R within the Division of Corporate Education since 2007.  Shari holds a current PA SLP license as well as a certification from American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).  She also holds a certification in Deep Pharyngeal Neuromuscular Stimulation has completed Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing training and serves as an American Heart Association Basic Life Support certified instructor.  She oversees therapist’s educational needs, the Rehab Clinical Ladder program, PM&R competencies and seats on the PM&R Professional Development committees.
 
Beth King BS, BSN, RN, CNOR – Staff Educator, Perioperative Services, Duke Street
Beth earned her Bachelor of Science degree from York College of PA and later went on to obtain a Diploma in Nursing from St. Josephs Hospital School of Nursing in Lancaster, PA.  She later completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Millersville University. Beth has been working in Perioperative Nursing for since 1995 and has her CNOR designation.
 
Ann Marie Landis—Staff Educator, Perioperative Services, Duke Street
Ann Marie was born in Queens, NYC and also lived in Old Bridge, NJ before moving to Pennsylvania, where she completed high school at Manheim Township. Ann Marie graduated from the Willow Street Vo-Tech Practical Nursing School in 1979 and was employed at Saint Joseph Hospital, in Lancaster. There, she trained to become a Surgical Technologist and worked in surgery for over 28 years. She was proficient in all specialties including Open Heart Surgery. Ann Marie earned her Associates Degree at Elizabethtown College and is currently working towards her bachelor’s degree in corporate communications with a minor in business administration.  She has been employed at Lancaster General Health since 2001 and has been working with the Division of Corporate Education since 2006. 
 
Suzanne Lausch, BSN, RN, CNOR—Staff Educator, Perioperative Services, Suburban Outpatient Pavilion
Suzanne is a Lancaster County native and started her career as an LPN at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lancaster, PA. She returned to St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing for a Diploma in Nursing. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Eastern Mennonite University and is a certified OR nurse with membership in the Association of Operating Room Nurses. She has worked for Lancaster General Health since 1996 as a staff nurse for the LGH Suburban Outpatient Surgical Center.  She has been with the Division of Corporate Education since 2009.
 
Dennis Mitterer, MS, BSN, CSP, ARM—Staff Educator, Evening/Night Shift, Duke Street
Dennis spent over 20 years in management at various private industries and healthcare-related businesses, but eventually found himself wanting to return to direct patient care. Over the years, he has completed his Bachelor of Science in Business at Elizabethtown College, his Masters of Arts in Management at Penn State University’s Smeal Business School, and specialty certifications in risk management and as a Certified Safety Specialist. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Penn State University and has worked for Lancaster General Health’s Trauma/Neuro unit since 2007.  Dennis also serves as adjunct faculty for Harrisburg Area Community College, Immaculata University and Lebanon Valley College. He will begin his doctorate in leadership and organizational behavior in fall of 2011.  Dennis has been with the Division of Corporate Education since 2011.
 
Joseph Nichols, BSN, RN, CPAN—Staff Educator, Perioperative Services, Duke Street
Joe was raised outside of Kennett Square, PA.  In 1986, he enlisted in the Army Reserve as a Basic Medical Specialist.  Through the years he attained the rank of Sergeant while attending Lancaster General College, from which he graduated in 1994 with a Diploma in Nursing.  Joe was then commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Reserve. His last position within the Army was that of an instructor teaching non-medical soldiers the basics of emergency first response.   Joe continued on in his educational career by obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Millersville University in 1997.  Prior to working as a staff educator, Joe worked in Pediatric Rehab, Pediatric ICU, the Emergency Room and multiple years as a Post Anesthesia Care Unit nurse.  Joe has been a staff educator with the Division of Corporate Education since 2007.  He is currently certified as a Post anesthesia nurse from the American Board of Perianesthesia Nursing Certification.

Rebecca M. Nolt, RN, MSN – Staff Educator, Medical/Surgical Team, Duke Street
Becky was born into an Old Order Mennonite family in Lancaster, PA and always wanted to be a nurse.  She graduated from Lancaster General College with her Diploma in Nursing in 1971 and was awarded the Florence Nightingale Award.  Becky worked on medical/surgical floors and IICU at Lancaster General Health, and then obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Eastern Mennonite College in 1981.  She went on to complete her Masters in Nursing from Villanova College in 1983.  Becky joined the Division of Corporate Education in 1988, left for five years to serve as a nursing supervisor for Lancaster General Health and then returned to the division after retiring from her position.  She instructs CPR and assists with the orientation of patient care assistants. 

Patty Phelan—Coordinator, Continuing Education
A native of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, Patty began her career with Lancaster General Health in 1994, working in the Marketing Department as a Marketing Associate.  Patty has been with the Division of Corporate Education since 2007, coordinating educational conferences for employees throughout Lancaster General Health.
 
Evelyn A. Potoka, RNC, MSN – Staff Educator, Women and Babies Hospital
Evelyn earned a Master of Science in Nursing Education from Thomas Edison State College. Her clinical expertise consists of 25 years of experience in Maternal Child Health. Evelyn has been with the Division of Corporate Education since 2007.
 
Deborah A. Reich, BS, RN—Staff Educator, Medical/Surgical Team, Duke Street
Knowing she wanted to be a nurse since childhood, Debbie graduated with a Diploma in Nursing from the Reading Hospital School of Nursing in 1977. Various experiences in medical/surgical, gerontology, perfusion therapy, home care, camp nursing, parish nursing and cardiac nursing have paved the way to becoming a staff educator. Furthering her education at Lancaster Bible College, Debbie graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Bible (with a concentration in nursing) in 2005. Presently, Debbie is pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing at Capella University, where she is also a part of the Advisory Council. She has worked for Lancaster General Health since 1991 and has worked with the Division of Corporate Education since 2007.
 
Kristen L Rutt, MS, RN, BSN—Staff Educator, Women & Babies Hospital
Kristen joined Lancaster General Health in 2007 with ten years of experience as a labor and delivery nurse. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Penn State University, followed by a School Nurse Certification from West Chester University. As a travel nurse for several years, Kristen lived in Georgia, California, and Colorado. In 2009, she graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine with a Master of Science in Forensic Medicine.  Kris has been with the Division of Corporate Education since 2007. 
 
Susan M. Sterkenberg, M.Ed.—Manager, Talent and Organizational Development
Born and raised in Christchurch New Zealand until age 10, Susan earned her BS in Psychology from Penn State University, Masters from Temple University in Psycho-Educational Processes, and has completed four years of an Adult Education doctoral program also at Penn State University.  Susan joined LGH in December of 2008 with over 20 years experience in the organizational development profession, most recently in private practice prior to joining LGH.   Passionate about helping people grow and cultivate their full potential, she finds joy in helping others to achieve their goals through the career counseling services, leadership development and talent management programs.  Susan has been working with the Division of Corporate Education since 2010. 
 
Brenda M. Stover, BS, RTR – Staff Educator, Imaging, Duke Street
Born and raised in Ephrata, PA, Brenda has been a resident of Lancaster since graduating from Lancaster General College’s Radiography program in 1972. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management at Lebanon Valley College in 2000. Brenda’s imaging career included working as a supervisor, a CT Technologist and a classroom instructor for the Lancaster General College Radiography program. Before joining DCE as the staff educator for imaging in July 2006, she spent 12 years as the manager of the Lancaster General Health’s Occupational Medicine Department. Brenda serves on the Division of Corporate Education’s Research and Analysis team, facilitates competency development for Lancaster General Health, instructs basic life support classes, and is an EPIC-certified credentialed trainer for imaging staff.
 
Shelley Vitale RN, CWS—Staff Educator, Medical/Surgical Team, Duke Street; Orientation Coordinator
Practicing as a registered nurse since 1989 has provided Shelley with diverse learning and skill-building experiences in acute care, home care, long-term care, case management, utilization and management. She is also a certified wound specialist, providing consultative services to long-term care facilities in the community. Her dedication to the nursing profession is only outweighed by her love of providing education. Shelley obtained her Diploma in Nursing from St. Joseph School of Nursing and is currently working on her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain College. Shelley has been with the Division of Corporate Education since 2008.

Janet Voss, BSN, RN – Staff Educator, Technology Education, Duke Street
Janet has worked clinically in Adult Critical Care, Obstetrics, Labor and Delivery and NICU, with 16 years being a Nurse Manager.  She has been with the Division of Corporate Education since 2002, serving as Computer Educator and NetLearning Administrator.  Janet originally comes from the Philadelphia area and has been living in Lancaster since 2000.  She received her Associates Degree and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Gwynedd-Mercy College.  Outside of work, Janet likes to scuba dive and spend time with her family.
 
Melanie R. Weaver, BSN, RN – Staff Educator, Evening/Night Shift, Women and Babies Hospital
Melanie is a graduate of Lancaster General College’s nursing program and she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Immaculata University.  Over the past nine years, she has worked in several fields of nursing, including ICU and Labor and Delivery.  In 2008, Melanie decided to take a break from the hospital setting and traveled to Pristine, Kosovo for a one-year assignment with the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping.  In Kosovo, she worked as a clinic nurse, treating anything from the common cold to malaria.  After a great year abroad, she returned to the United States and has been a Staff Educator since 2009.   Melanie is currently working as an EPIC Principle Trainer during Lancaster General Health’s hospital-wide electronic medical record training initiative.
 
Rebecca L. Weiler – Secretary
Born and raised in Lancaster PA, Rebecca earned her certification as a paraeducator in supporting students in an inclusive setting by the Pennsylvania Training & Technical Assistant Network. She worked for Roseville Pediatrics for two years in a support role and has provided support to the clinical education team within the Division of Corporate Education since 2008.  Rebecca is also an EPIC-certified Credentialed Trainer.
