HEALTH SERVICES

The Health Services Program is designed to focus on holistic views and strives to meet the ever-changing needs of a diverse student population. The goals of the program include promoting wellness and self-care and empowering individuals to be self-directed and well-informed consumers of health care services.

The Health Services Program is provided to enrolled students for routine health maintenance and emergency care for injuries and illness. Students may consult the Coordinator, Health and Counseling Services, for referrals or advice on health matters. Students are responsible for the cost of medical expenses incurred through injury or accident and should have personal health insurance to cover health costs not covered by the Health Services Program and during periods when the College is not is session.  For information on available student health insurance coverage please click here.

A more detailed description of Health Services is available in the Student Handbook, section 3.3, available to current students under the Student Services community in Blackboard (see the Blackboard link under Online Service on the left side of this page).

Students who have health questions or concerns may always consult Go Ask Alice online when the Health Center is closed.  Students can also find answers to many of the most common questions concerning health requirements and instructions in the following Frequently Asked Student Health Questions document.

Students enrolled in courses with a clinical component must meet student health policy requirements, including an annual physical examination, laboratory tests and immunizations. See your Student Handbook for more information, and see the information and forms below.

COUNSELING SERVICES

The Counseling Program is a continuous process throughout the educational program. Its purpose is to promote academic, personal and professional growth in the student. The program is a collaborative effort by the counselor and student to recognize and decide if the student desires change on an academic, personal or professional level.  It's primary concern is the individual, not the institution. Academic advisors will confer with students whose problems are considered to be normal developmental and/or academic situations. More complex issues may require the student to be referred to the Coordinator, Health and Counseling Services, for evaluation. Any student, however, is free to access counseling services independently at any time.  All evaluation and initial counseling services are provided onsite by a mental health clinical nurse specialist.

A more detailed description of Counseling Services is available in the Student Handbook, section 3.3, available to current students under the Student Services community in Blackboard (see the Blackboard link under Online Service on the left side of this page).

DISABILITY SERVICES

The Coordinator, Health and Counseling Services, serves as the College's ADA Coordinator and provides services creating full access and providing appropriate accommodation for all students with disabilities. The Coordinator must be contacted to request consideration for specific accommodations or to address compliance issues with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

A more detailed description of Disability Services is available in the Student Handbook, section 3.4, available to current students under the Student Services community in Blackboard (see the Blackboard link under Online Service on the left side of this page).
